"I started kindergarten at Morgan in 1988 and attended Hutchinson Public Schools over the next 13 years graduating from Hutch High in 2001. Over that time I was a part of many changes in USD 308. In 4th grade Mrs. Mallon received a grant at Morgan that added a number of computers to our classroom – a first in Hutch Schools. My freshman year at Hutch High was the beginning of the trimester schedule at HHS. That brought longer class periods and a chance to take an additional class each year. The seminar period was also added to allow students extra study time and a chance to meet with teachers for additional help as well as the opportunity to attend club meetings during the school day rather than after school which often interfered with sports practices and kids that had after school jobs. Mr. Roehm became principal at HHS my sophomore year and along with the trimester system really helped improved the academic programs begin offered. At the same time we saw a new emphasis being placed on a strength training program which paid off in all of the Salthawk athletic programs and allowed Hutch High to win multiple track, wrestling and football state championships along with an undefeated basketball season in 2000-01. USD 308 has been moving in the right direction in both academics and athletics making it one of the best school districts in the state. It’s now time to see that USD 308 also has facilities that will compliment the progressive and positive programming which is already in place and continue to help the children that will be a part of our community in the future. Please vote yes on November 7th!!!"

"On November 7th USD 308 patrons will have a chance to make a decision that will allow our schools and the future or our students to become a #1 priority. “Children are living messages that we send to a time we will not see…” What message do we want to send? This bond issue will give our community an opportunity help every child in every class in every school in our district by upgrading each building and enhancing the programming that we can offer at every level of education. Every child will benefit, every teacher will benefit and everyone in our community will benefit from a well thought out plan that will secure a positive educational experience for our youth over the next 50 years and beyond. “Our Kids Come First” is a group of concerned citizens that hope you will join us by voting YES and sending a “living message” that says we care about our kids, our future and our community."
