As a parent, grandparent, and teacher, I recommend a vote FOR schools in USD 308. When I first began teaching in Hutch 11 years ago, I did not have my own classroom. I had to travel from room to room to room to room plus to different buildings. Classroom space at the high school is definitely needed because we have teachers who do not have their own classrooms. The performing arts department has had hardly any updates since my husband graduated in 1968. The stage area isn’t even safe. I would personally like to have doors that automatically go to lockdown when needed, a central door that visitors have to go to, more lighting, and more cameras. As the Hutchinson-NEA president, I have also seen the overcrowding in the grade schools. Music and PE teachers don’t always have a place. It’s hard to do band on the stage of a gym and PE in the gym simultaneously. This has happened in the past and can’t be any too safe. This bond issue is sorely needed to make sure our schools are safe and updated for our children and future generations. Good schools attract businesses.

Vote “Yes” for USD 308 Bond Issue.

Our family has made Hutchinson home for thirteen years. Having had several opportunities to move to other communities, we chose to stay in Hutchinson because of what it has to offer; safe environment, friendly people, great museums, family theater, unlimited activities for our children, and the schools. Yes, the schools!

The USD 308 school district has a lot to offer, however, it has great needs as well. Overcrowded classrooms, trailers as libraries, lack of electrical needs for computers, safety issues and on and on.

Yet with these deficiencies, the district has so many things going for it. We need this bond issue to solve these deficiencies and continue moving in the right direction. The children of Hutchinson are our future and they deserve an A+ education.

We ask you to support the USD 308 bond issue. Please invest in the future of all the children in our community.
